Read between the lines

With the world in an uproar today, over three million people are marching to express how fervently they oppose the new American president and his demagogic, political ideology and outright lies. Their feelings are understandable, and it is that emotion that drives us all to play our part in changing the world. The millions that began the march toward equality for women, L.G.T.B.Q., minorities, Islamic communities and more are well within their rights. So many are hurting right now. So many scared of the unpredictable future that awaits their families and friends. When we look back upon the writings of those influential speakers in history, those iconic words that have given the intangible, voice. Poems like the "Populist Manifesto Number One" by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The words are so profound it is almost not necessary to read between the lines, and yet we must still look to the unspoken for true insight. "Whitman's wild children" sat waiting for their newest inspiration, their boldest motivations, their secret inflammations; they are here today, watching, breathing in their muses. So in between the lines; Poetry has died. Long live Poetry.

There will always be more for us to do, more to say, more to sacrifice...
